The British Council in Tokyo will be hosting a free public lecture by Sean Hamil, director of the Birkbeck Sport Business Centre and academic director of postgraduate sport management programmes at Birkbeck, University of London.
Drawing on his experience working with the football industry and various European regulatory bodies, Sean will share an insight into the internationalisation of sport business and its implications for sports leagues, businesses, and organisations in Korea and abroad.
A graduate of Trinity College Dublin and London School of Economics, Sean is a specialist researcher in the field of corporate governance and regulation of sport. He is widely published in the area of sport management, and is a member of the academic scientific committee of the Master in European Sport Governance (MESGO), a high level executive training programme supported by six of Europe’s leading sport federations. He is a lecturer on the UEFA Certificate in Football Management, and a former director of Supporters Direct, the UK government not-for-profit organisation for corporate social responsibility in the football industry. As programme director of postgraduate degrees in Sport Management, Sean conducts research in environmental policy, business strategy, corporate community and charitable involvement, and the governance and regulation of professional football.
